A MAN has appeared in court charged with causing death by dangerous driving following a fatal crash on the M62 near Birchwood.

Martin Junior William Grant from Birmingham made his first appearance in the case at Manchester and Salford Magistrates today, Tuesday.

He was arrested following a crash that killed 25-year-old Joetta Shumba from Manchester.

At around 5.20am on Sunday, January 24, a grey Audi S3 and a lorry travelling westbound on the M62 between the Eccles interchange and junction 11 were involved in collision. 

Joetta, who was a passenger in the Audi, died following the crash. 

Grant is expected to appear at Manchester Crown Court on March 8.
