THE Lib Dem candidate for the police and crime commissioner election has vowed to work with the chief constable to set a dedicated #CyberSafeCheshire unit if he is elected.
Neil Lewis believes more needs to be done tackle this type of crime in the county.
He said: “If selected as the future commissioner I would ensure every new police recruit has core cyber skills.
"I will ask the chief constable to form a dedicated #CyberSafeCheshire unit.
"I would increase the number of community based police and ensure that they are focused on cybercrime prevention and I would prioritise and reward police recruits who speak a second language to expand and deepen cultural diversity within the police family.
"Cybercrime and fraud in Cheshire is estimated to be twice the number of other crimes put together - it is a massive problem now and for the future - we need to tackle it."
