THE M6 will be closed at Lymm overnight this week as £14.5m roadworks continue.

Carriageway closures, beginning tomorrow night and lasting until Sunday, will be made as part of traffic management work between junctions 19 and 20 of the motorway.

Taking place between 11pm-5am, closures will mean narrowed lanes and an average speed camera-enforced 50mph limit starting just north of Lymm Services.

Southbound carriageway closures will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, with Thursday night earmarked as a contingency in case of poor weather.

The northbound carriageway is planned to be closed on Friday and Saturday night with Sunday night as a contingency – motorists will be diverted along the A556 and A50.

The £14.5m Highways England scheme will see bridges repaired, a new central reservation and verge barriers, improved drainage and resurfacing work.
