MOTORISTS are pleading for repairs to a pothole on a Howley road close to a housing estate.
Cllr Kevin Bennett (TUSC – Fairfield and Howley), who received complaints over the matter, called for improvements but has become increasingly frustrated with the lack of action to the road, on Howley Lane, close to the Mersey.
He said: "I complained about the pothole on January 8.
"I asked who is responsible for this section of the road but as of yet all I have received back was an e-mail asking the same question.
"It frustrates me when developers are allowed to build their houses but never seem to be responsible for the surrounding roads and when the council are asked they say it is unadopted.
"Can someone please accept responsibility and have this section of road repaired.
"These agreements should be sorted out at the acceptance of the development. The potholes were full of water."
A council spokesman confirmed there are 'various owners' of the road but said Persimmon Homes is responsible for the 'stretch in question'.
He added: "Our understanding is that they are out there this morning, Friday, sorting the potholes."
