UNITED Utilities is vowing to 'invest in new talent' as part of its vision to deliver 'future success'.

The north west water and wastewater services firm is one of the top employers for apprentices in the region and has no signs of stopping its commitment to help those seeking work.

The organisation's scheme has been recognised in the prestigious 'top 100 apprentice employers' list.

United Utilities was listed in the results, which are compiled annually by the National Apprenticeship Service in partnership with City and Guilds.

They recognise the 'exceptional contribution' by businesses that employ apprentices.

After 42 apprentices on its scheme secured roles last year the company is opening its doors to new applications this month.

There are more than 50 positions on offer, ranging from human resources to scientists, with 'many more opportunities' in between.

Lynn Johnson, talent programme manager from United Utilities, said: "Like many industry sectors we need to invest in new talent and our apprentices are vital for our future success.

"We spend a lot of time investing in our apprentices and their development to make sure they gain valuable skills and real qualifications."

IT technical apprentice Calvin Woods added: "Everyone is really friendly and supportive in helping you achieve your goals.

"The amount of opportunities we are granted to see different areas of the business and get involved in activities that you normally wouldn't necessarily get in a regular job is nothing short of brilliant."

At the end of last month Warrington South MP David Mowat joined United Utilities employees at his fourth jobs fair at the Parr Hall.

They were on hand to offer advice over the wide range of opportunities on offer for people seeking work.

Mr Mowat placed extra attention on apprenticeships at the event and believes they are set to play a key role in the future of the country.
