A REDEVELOPMENT plan to build 275 homes at Lingley Mere Business Park, near Great Sankey High School has been revealed.

Residents are concerned that the development will make traffic in the area even worse as access to the site is currently via Lingley Green Avenue.

The area is often very busy because it is close to Great Sankey High School, which has around 1,800 pupils.

One resident, of Billington Close, objected to the application and said: “I am disgusted that this planning application is being processed.

“I moved to Billington Close for the privacy and quiet nature of the development.

“The roads around Great Sankey are already busy enough and another development will only create more disturbance and inconvenience.”

The site is 9.3 hectares and owned by United Utilities, which occupies most of the existing buildings in Lingley Mere Business Park.

Whittle Hall Councillor Faisal Rashid, who is working with the planners to resolve these issues, said: “Warrington does need more homes, which is obviously because the economy in Warrington is doing very well because of the current administration.

“But at the same time I am really concerned about the traffic issue, which needs to be addressed before any homes are built.

“As a local councillor for the area my main concern is for the residents.

“We need to build more infrastructure - there are strategic issues to sort out and that will take time.”

The proposed main entrance for the site will be on Omega Boulevard and Lingley Mere claims that the development will not sacrifice the privacy of residents.

In a statement, a spokesman for Lingley Mere Business Park said: “The layout shall respect the surrounding areas, allowing for the screen planting to the southern boundary of the site (to Lingley Green Avenue).”
