THROUGHOUT January our Humans of Warrington feature will be telling the stories behind staff at Warrington Hospital's maternity ward who help make a difference to new mums and dad's lives every day.
NAME: Michelle Messenger
AGE: 47
LIVES: Bewsey
OCCUPATION: Housekeeper
"When you say housekeeper, the first thing people say is 'What's that?'
"My role is keeping the ward a safe, clean and welcoming environment for our patients.
"It can include everything from dealing with audits, hand hygiene, saving the hospital money and I was on my hands and knees this morning scrubbing the corridors.
"I look at it as running my own house so if something is broken I get it fixed and shop around within NHS standards to find the best price as our budget has to go a long way.
"People expect more now and if the wards are untidy people think we don't care so I will walk the wards and will change things just like I would do at home."
