AN animal charity, who put out a plea last year for help refitting their ageing cat and kitten pods, are looking for sponsors to help them complete the work.

The old pods and pens where the cats waiting to be rehomed were living at Warrington Animal Welfare were more than 25 years old and were cold and draughty during the winter with condensation making the beds damp.

A spokesman added: "The hinges on the doors were showing signs of wear and tear and starting to break, making the pods less secure for keeping the cats and kittens in our care safe.

"We didn’t have the funds to upgrade all of the pens so we put out a plea to local businesses and supporters to help with sponsoring a pen and Sterling Windows came forward to offer a highly discounted price to allow the rehoming centre to start upgrading some of the pens that needed urgent refurbishment.

"There are still many more pens that need upgrading but Warrington Animal Welfare would like to thank Sterling Windows for their help, and also all of the kind supporters who have signed up to the Warrington Animal Welfare monthly sponsorship scheme."

Each pod costs £300 to upgrade using the company's discounted rate so the charity is asking local businesses who are animal lovers to sponsor a pod for a year for £300 or to members of the public who want to sign up to the Warrington Animal Welfare sponsorship scheme from just £2 per month.
