WILMSLOW High School hockey teams have missed out on places in national finals.

The under 14s and seniors teams were unable to progress from the North finals staged at Leeds University.

A third-place finish was achieved by the seniors as a result of beating Hymers 4-0, before losing 1-0 to both Leeds Grammar School and Cheadle Hulme School.

The under 14s drew against Queen Margaret’s 2-2 and Kirkham Grammar 1-1 before falling 3-0 to RGS Newcastle.

Despite some impressive performances in the early games against Hill House and Loreto, the under 16s lost out to a very strong Arnold side in the Northern semi finals.

Mixed fortunes have been experienced by the football teams in the ESFA competitions, the under 15s progressing 2-0 against Compton House, the first team bowing out to Balby Carr in Doncaster 1-0 and the under 13s exiting 1-0 against Elton High School.

The under 16s were knocked out of the Cheshire Cup, losing out 7-6 on penalties to Poynton after the scores remained at 2-2 at the end of extra time.
