A STOCKTON Heath councillor has vowed to continue 'monitoring' parking concerns after Marks and Spencer opens its food hall in the village next Wednesday.

The shop in The Forge will open its doors at 10am to give customers the chance to see the 5,500 food and drink lines on offer.

Cllr Laurence Murphy (LAB – Stockton Heath) believes M&S will prove to be a welcome addition to the area.

He said: "I am sure that shoppers will be pleased to see the M&S food hall finally open."

Parking is a concern for those in the village but Cllr Murphy is set to keep a close eye on the situation.

"The additional demand for parking at The Forge is a possible cause for concern and I will be monitoring the situation," he added.

"Police have expressed concerns at the proposal by M&S to keep the mall open at night when the store is open to allow access from London Road.

"Many visitors to the village centre however may welcome a well-lit route to the car park."
