A MUM-OF-TWO from Padgate has thanked generous staff at a maintenance firm for rescuing her deteriorating garden free of charge.

Anne Nunn, 33, of Vulcan Close, was left helpless after being unable to find anyone to repair her 'dangerous' garden after it became overgrown and blighted by pipeline issues.

She said the garden got like 'a swimming pool' when it rained and following concerns had to stop her children, who are aged two and 13, from playing on it.

But after a plea for help, Fantastic Services, which operates throughout the north west, agreed to carry out the work required and provided Anne with a gardening maintenance voucher with a value of £100.

Two professional gardeners cleared up the overgrowing grass, weeds and thorns during the 90-minute operation.

During the work the pair used the mower around six times to ensure the garden was in 'perfect' condition.

Anne has praised those involved but admits the most pleasing aspect of it all is seeing her children being able to play on the patch again.

She said: "I am very satisfied with it and so are my children.

"They have really done a fantastic job and the garden is now usable – the team were on time and very polite throughout the work.

"It is nice to be able to look at the garden now and go out there, I am really grateful."

She previously asked Golden Gates Housing Trust (GGHT) to carry out the repairs but the firm said the problem was down to her.

It said it could not make improvements to the drainage but confirmed it was happy to advise on any installation queries, or to provide information on how to maintain the garden.

Anne said drainage remains an issue and is 'speaking' to GGHT about it.

Other highlights of the renovation by Fantastic Services included 'delicately shaping' ivy growing over the garden fence and a clean-up of the patio area.
