A MAN who attempted to smuggle drugs into Risley Prison has been sentenced to four weeks in prison.
Earl Green, of Wythenshawe, Manchester, pleaded guilty to one count of trying to convey a Class C drug into the prison.
The court heard how Green went to visit a friend who was already serving a sentence behind bars on December 9.
But surveillance staff spotted the two men acting suspiciously and saw the prisoner put something in his trousers.
But men were taken away to be searched.
Prosecuting, Michael Whitty said: "He was detained by staff and he said to them 'I owe a lot of money to people on the outside.
"I regret what I have done. I do not know what was inside'."
A total of 22 tablets of oxandrolone were discovered following the search
But defending, David James said Green, aged 34, had been pressured into trying to smuggle in the illicit haul due a drug debt.
Green, who is already behind bars for a separate offence, was told he would serve his sentence consecutively during the hearing at Warrington Crown Court on Friday.
