A SECURITY guard dressed from head-to-toe in bright yellow to raise money for St Rocco’s Hospice after they cared for his dying mother.

Will Hill, from Orford, has been a regular fundraiser for the hospice since his mum died of cervical cancer 12 years ago, and his latest exploits have seen him dress in a yellow floor-length coat and yellow trousers while collecting in Golden Square Shopping Centre.

He was part of a team of volunteers collecting in the shopping centre as part of National Hospice Care Week.

Will, who has previously organised raffles and fairs for the hospice and taken part in their annual lantern walk, said: “I couldn’t say how much I have raised in all but all I know is I just want to help as much as possible, all the staff at the hospice do a brilliant job.

“The cared for my mum with such compassion and they do the same for so many people in desperate circumstances – they provide an invaluable service for our whole community.”

The Lockton Lane hospice is celebrating its 30th anniversary and is Golden Square’s charity of the year.

It costs around £3m a year to run the hospice and relies completely on fundraising donations.

Julie Dove, St Rocco’s community fundraiser, said: “We never know quite what he is going to wear but it is always sure to attract attention which is great for fundraising activities because it means people are more aware of what we are doing – not only does it highlight the particular activity but also the work that we do at the hospice as a whole.

“He was unmissable.

“With his outfit and that fact that the Warrington Wolves were at the centre it was a really good day for us.”
