CHESHIRE and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP) has scooped a top prize at an annual ceremony which celebrates the efficiency of the health service.

CWP won the value and improvement in communication honour at the Health Service Journal Value in Healthcare awards.

The trust, a provider of mental health, learning disability, substance misuse and physical health services was presented the accolade for its pioneering child and adolescent mental health (CAMHS) website, mymind.org.uk.

The awards night, which was held on September 22 in London, received more than 500 entries for 21 categories from NHS organisations across the country.

Tim McDougall, clinical director for CAMHS and Lesley Dougan, children and young people's practitioner, attended the ceremony on behalf of all the young people and staff involved in designing, running and developing the site.

"Future in mind highlights the importance of social media in engaging children and young people to promote mental health and wellbeing and Mymind is a fantastic example of this," said Mr McDougall.

Ms Dougan added: "Winning this award would not have been possible without the full involvement and participation of young people - their contribution was invaluable."

It is the latest honour in a long list of accolades for CWP's website for young people.

Mymind.org.uk was was recently crowned winner at the iNetwork Innovation Awards, as well as being highly commended at last year's HSJ and Positive Practice in Mental Health (PPMH) awards for innovation in the CAMHS category.

It has also been shortlisted for this year's PPMH awards in the social media category.

Judges said the entry had an 'impressive impact', as well as excellent content and materials.

They added: "We were really impressed with the engagement that it has created with patients through innovative use of digital media.

"It creates exciting opportunities to involve patients and create inclusive and progressive relationships."
