DALLAM residents came together to take a trip down memory lane last month.

The 'Dallam Days' gone by event, which was organised by volunteers and the central neighbourhood team, attracted residents from across the area.

Visitors braved the gloomy weather to share stories about playing hop scotch, bowls, hula hoops and more, while community groups provided stalls, face painting and refreshments.

LiveWire and Change 4 Life staff put on a number of fun activities throughout the day to help inspire those in attendance to be more active.

The event was funded by pharmacist Prakash Jha Prak from Dallam Pharmacy.

Staff also carried out free health checks for adults.

Cllr Kate Hannon, executive board member for leisure, community and culture, said: "Although the weather was not on our side the event was attended by about 80 people and the volunteers had a fun afternoon reminiscing.

"I want to thank everyone who helped make this event such a success and the Dallam Pharmacy for funding and helping to organise.

"We have had some great events in the area over the summer and we hope to involve residents in many more."

Prakash added: "We are very keen to get involved with the community here in Dallam which is why we decided to fund this event.

"We are all about community spirit and offer people a personalised service so it’s important to us to get to know our customers and we can do this by taking part in fun events."

Cllr Pat Wright, executive board member for statutory health and adult social care, was also in attendance.

She said: "Events in the community are just one of the ways we can provide people direct with practical advice and support that could have a positive impact on their everyday lives including how to eat more healthy food, care services that could help them or a family member, sports activities and lots more."
