FORMER champion boxer Joe Calzaghe got the chop when he dropped in to an Orford barbers shop at the weekend.
The longest reigning super middleweight world champion had been in Manchester and nipped over to Ilhams Barbers and Hairdressers on Marsh House Lane for a scissors all over cut.
The BBC Sports Personality of the Year winner had heard about the barbers from Bryan Robson.
Owner Ilham Begde thought he was the victim of a prank when he received a phone call from the Welshman’s dad.
He said: “It was a Saturday which is my busiest day, and I had a phone call at 3.30pm.
“I answered it and it was Joe Calzaghe’s dad, he asked if we were available to do his hair – I thought somebody was winding me up at first.
“He’d heard about us from Bryan Robson who’s been in before.
“He was an absolute gentleman – he was a very nice guy and he stayed for an hour and had a cup of tea afterwards.
“Not many barbers offer a scissors all over cut, they use clippers – he was really pleased with it.”
