DEVASTATED friends of Luke Holland, who was fatally shot outside a nightclub in Berlin last month, have set up a crowdfunding page in his memory.

Nearly £10,000 has so far been raised to help support the family of the former Lymm High School pupil in the wake of his death.

His grieving family have already been hit with a bill of £4,000 to fly his body home ahead of the funeral on Friday.

Ross Macleod, who set up the fundraising page with a £20,000 target, described Luke as a 'much-loved friend'.

He wrote: "This page has been set up to support his family and to get Luke the justice he deserves.

"There are two parts to this funding request.

"Firstly this is to help reimburse Luke's parents for the cost of the funeral and repatriation.

"To fly Luke home has already cost £4,000, and Luke was extremely popular, so we are expecting a lot of people from all over the world to be attending his funeral.

"In addition to this, all of his stuff still remains in Berlin and will need to be sent back to the UK.

"That will probably include 50 pairs of trainers, 50 coats to match his trainers, and all the other random stuff only a man can accumulate.

"Secondly and most importantly, this funding request will be to used get justice for Luke by enabling Rita and Phil to fly to Berlin, attend court, hire a lawyer and stay in a hotel for the duration of the case."

Oxford business school graduate Luke Holland was leaving the Del Rex club in the German capital when he was allegedly targeted by a man wearing a cowboy hat and wielding a shotgun on Sunday, September 20.

The 31-year-old, who also graduated from University of Sheffield in 2006, was found in a pool of blood by a passer-by soon after the bar closed at 6am.

Luke, who was working as a lawyer, later died on his way to hospital.

A 62-year-old man, identified only as Rolf Z due to Germany’s data protection laws, was later arrested following a police raid at his home and taken into custody.

It has been reported that an 'arsenal of weapons' were found inside the property.

His funeral is to take place on Friday at Manchester Crematorium at 2.49pm followed by a wake at The Didsbury Pub in Manchester.

Any over-funding will be donated to Arts for Recovery in the Community – a charity Luke was passionate about.
