WORK to build a new endoscopy ward at Spire Cheshire Hospital has begun.

The state of the art suite is being built as part of a £1.4m investment and redevelopment programme at the Stretton hospital, and is scheduled to open in January 2016.

The two-storey extension will accommodate the new unit, which will link to the day care facility and increase administration space on the ground floor.

Hospital director Verlie Brazel said: “Building and opening a new endoscopy suite at Spire Cheshire Hospital is a very exciting milestone for us and the new development will further enhance our ability to provide a comprehensive, quality range of services to our patients.”

The new ward will be built by Construction Partnership UK.

Managing director Steve Burke said: “We’re very excited to be working with Spire Cheshire Hospital in the construction of their new endoscopy unit and I’m sure our considerable experience in delivering healthcare projects on time and to budget played a major part in sealing our appointment.

“This is our first project with Spire Healthcare and we look forward to working with them in the future as they continue to develop and enhance facilities across the country.”
