THE chairman of Warrington Young Labour (WYL) is set to 'throw a party' to celebrate if Jeremy Corbyn is announced as the new leader next Saturday.

Just over a week remains until Culcheth man Andy Burnham, Yvette Cooper, Liz Kendall and Mr Corbyn find out their fate over whether they will be given the responsibility of leading the Labour party back into power.

Despite coming into the race as an outsider, Mr Corbyn is now being tipped to claim victory – an outcome WYL chairman Josh Booth would welcome.

He also revealed he 'will throw a party' if the Islington North MP comes out on top and has received support for holding such an event following a Facebook status.

"The status about the party was meant as a bit of a joke but the amount of people who have messaged me offering live music performances, lighting equipment or even food makes me genuinely consider it," he said.

"We're the Labour party - Labour, because we work hard, and party, because we play hard."

But Mr Booth is tipping the potential success of Mr Corbyn to benefit the country as a whole over the coming years.

He added: "What's not to love about Jeremy?

"I could talk all day about his plans to turn the Labour party back into a social movement, or how he opposes privatisation of public services and the systematic oppression of the working classes, or even just his fantastic beard but that's not it for me.

"For me, it's because I finally feel at home in the Labour party.

"I spent months trying to convince voters that we aren't all the same and from now on that will actually be an easy task.

"We won't let the Tories set the narrative anymore – we're going to fight for equality and justice without any tricks, just total honesty.

"If news like that isn't cause for a party, then I don't know what is!"
