FOUR families with children with life-limiting conditions enjoyed an unforgettable day thanks to the help of a group of teenagers in the town.

Jacob's Unique Memory Pot, better known as children's charity JUMP, organised a tea party for children and their siblings after fundraising from a Warrington Youth Club NCS group.

The group enjoyed tea and cakes with some of their favourite Frozen characters and charity mascot Tiggeroo at St Mary Magdalene's Church in Appleton before a professional photographer took pictures for memory books which the family can cherish forever.

Grandma Christine Bentham, who helped set up the cause, said: "We had lots of fun things for them to do including sticker books, colouring and face painting before children had the tea party with characters from Entertainment Emporium.

"The charity gifted the memory books to the families thanks to a Warrington Youth Club NCS project raising the money to pay for the photographer and as a result of that project we also now have the support of a new volunteer Ryan Beckett.

"He found the venue for us and got lots of his friends and family to supply food for the tea party which was fantastic."

The charity, which has been running for the last 11 years and does not receive any grants, was set up after the death of Christine's grandson Jacob to capture happy memories for families with terminally ill children.

The cause gets a number of referrals last minute and hope to encourage families with poorly children to get in touch with them earlier in the diagnosis so they can create a number of lasting memories for parents.

She added: "We work closely with the children's palliative care team at Warrington Hospital who referred all of the families for the tea party.

"One little girl had only had 11 months out of hospital in more than three years and her parents said it was very precious to them just to be able to come out together and have fun.

"It was nice for brothers and sisters to enjoy the day too and definitely something we will be repeating in the future."

The next event for the charity is a Christmas photoshoot with Father Christmas on November 21.
