A SUSPECTED drug dealer is expected to appear in court today, Thursday, after a quantity of Class A drugs were seized in Bewsey.

Two men were arrested for drugs offences after a vehicle was stopped and searched on Kerfoot Street on Wednesday.

A 37-year-old man from Ormskirk and a 20-year-old man from Stockbridge Village were arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Following questioning, 20-year-old Thomas McClennan was charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at magistrates' court today.

The second suspect has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Constable Carol McCormick-Priest from Cheshire Police said: “The corrosive effect that drug abuse and associated criminality has on our communities is well known, and we are committed to tackling the problem and targeting those involved.

“Today’s operation reinforces the commitment that the police and partner agencies have in targeting those people that undermine our communities and bring misery to residents through their involvement in organised crime and illegal drugs.

"This sort of behaviour can have a major impact on local communities.

"It is an issue the force takes extremely seriously and we devote all the resources we can to tracing those responsible and disrupting their behaviour."

"Information from members of the public is vital in the fight against drug related crime."
