THE STROKE Association is encouraging Warrington residents to get in shape and sign up for a 5k, 10k or 15k run around Victoria Park.

The third annual Resolution Run will take place on Sunday October 4 at 11am and hopes to be the perfect motivation to get fit after the summer holidays while raising money for charity.

Last year’s event had over 250 runners who raised over £9,000.

Laura McMullin, events officer at the Stroke Association, said: “At least half of strokes could be prevented if people made simple lifestyle changes such as keeping blood pressure under control and taking more exercise.

“We’re encouraging people in Warrington to get fit and take part in our Resolution Run with friends, family or on their own.

“Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned runner we welcome participants of any ability and you can choose your own pace and distance.

“The money raised will fund vital research and support as well as help to prevent people in the North West from having a stroke.”

Registration begins at 9.30am on the day with a 10.45am pre-run warm up.

The entry fee is £12.50 with a t-shirt of £15 with a technical running vest, and all runners will be provided with water and a medal to celebrate their achievement.
