A BRIDAL shop owner has continued to break with tradition by using women of all shapes and sizes to model the store’s wedding dress collection.

Rebecca Lord-Lyon from Latchford came up with the engaging photo shoot after seeing time and time again women with slim figures modelling bridal wear.

The businesswoman decided to challenge beauty norms to show that size is just a number.

The 26-year-old said: “These are women of all shapes and sizes and they are all beautiful.

“When I decided to open the store I wanted to make sure every single bride felt comfortable.

“I didn’t want people to experience what I went through.”

Rebecca knows only too well the difficulties a bride-to-be can be faced with when trying to source the perfect dress.

While trying to find the gown of her dreams, the 26-year-old was left red faced after she was unable to fit into the sample sizes in the shops.

Rebecca, who is a size 14 waist and size 16 top, decided to open her own bridal store where others won’t suffer the same embarrassment that she was forced to endure.

Edith & Winston, which is based in Knutsford and stocks bridal collections by a number of renowned designers, is unlike other wedding stores as its sample gowns start from a size 14 and range to a size 32 plus - although the gowns can be purchased from a size six.

The photo shoot is the next step in Rebecca’s mission to stamp out wedding stereotypes.

She said: “I found four girls who are all from Warrington and that have never modelled before.

“We took them to The Mere Golf and Spa Hotel for a photo shoot – making them all models for the day.

“The women were all shapes and sizes because it’s so important to Edith & Winston that we are an inclusive bridal shop even though we specialise in 14 plus.”
