THE Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for a number of homes in the town ahead of high tide in the early hours of tomorrow, Wednesday.

Areas at risk include Fiddlers Ferry, Eastford Road, Arpley Bridge, Knutsford Road, Howley, Kingsway North and Westy.

A spokesman added: "The next high tide is expected to be 5.19m at Liverpool Gladstone Dock at 2am on 02/09/15.

"Places likely to be affected are in the Warrington area at:

Fiddlers Ferry at 03:15, estimated peak of 6.55m.

Eastford Road at 03:30, estimated peak of 6.70m.

Arpley Bridge at 03:45, estimated peak of 6.75m. Kingsway North at 04:00, estimated peak of 6.83m.

"It is possible that river levels may affect Arpley Road under the railway bridge."
