FORMER Grappenhall resident Sherrie Hewson has become the latest celebrity to enter the Big Brother house in the new series of the Channel 5 reality show.

The 64-year-old Loose Woman panellist and actress follows in the footsteps of her former co-star Ken Morley, who had a controversial stint in the house during the last series earlier this year.

Sherrie, who lived in Grappenhall while playing Maureen in Coronation Street, was the first contestant to enter the house last night, closely followed by hip hop artist Fatman Scoop.

She has also starred in Emmerdale and Crossroads, as well as Benidorm, and has had three books published - a crime novel, her memoirs and a cookbook.

Asked what she might find difficult during her stay in the house, she replied: “People having relations in bed next to me will annoy me, only because it has been so long I can't remember how you do it!”

“Disrespect would annoy me. We are all in one house and we don't know each other so everybody should clean and cook, and if that didn't happen I would say something. I am a little bit OCD on cleaning.”

Other housemates include TV Presenter Gail Porter, actor Chris Ellison and former Atomic Kitten Natasha Hamilton, who was encouraged to join the show by former bandmate Kerry Katona.

“Kerry was in and she was just like, 'It's great fun!'” said Natasha. “She didn't give me any negatives, she just said, 'You're going to love it, good luck!' As soon as I walk through the door, the game has begun.”
