THE North West Motorway Police have been investigating reports of uninsured drivers, road collisions...and a tortoise on the loose on the motorway today.
This afternoon police were called to the Lymm Interchange after shell-shocked drivers had seen a tortoise making his way along the hard shoulder of the M56 westbound.
It is not known where the tortoise was heading or if he was flagged up to police on suspicion of speeding.
There has been no update since officers reported that they were en-route two hours ago but here's hoping the tortoise isn't heading for a night in the shell block.
