IT could be time for office employees to fight the cravings for junk food and opt for a superfood salad following the launch of the latest health initiative in the town.

City Salads is offering staff the chance to enjoy organic, hearty and fresh lunches delivered direct to their offices.

After social media demand calling for it to come to Warrington following the firm's take-off in Manchester almost three months ago, the business is ready to produce the goods.

Fitness fanatic Harrison Prosser came up with the idea after becoming frustrated with lunch options during his office career in Manchester.

After consideration he set out on a mission to change the market landscape to give staff a healthy alternative, rather than a forced choice.

He runs the firm on a full-time basis, along with partner Lauren Drury, and a catering manager.

But despite the shortage of staff, City Salads is delivering an average of 45 salad boxes a day and is anticipating the hunger for its services to increase.

Harrison is targeting business locations across the town, including Birchwood Park, and believes the move is crucial for the health of professionals.

"When working in an office I saw how much of a struggle it was to keep to my fitness goals and could not find anywhere to go to get a really nutritious meal," he said.

"We serve all the needed healthy food – there is a lot of protein and foods which give a lot of energy.

"People get into habits, especially when working next to somewhere which serves unhealthy food, but this option can help them change that.

"It is also convenient for staff and comes chilled.

"They can also plan ahead for their week at home on a Sunday so they don't have to worry about anything."

But following the launch in Warrington, Harrison insists City Salads is here to stay.

"It is not going to be a short-term thing in the town, we will be staying here and want to give more and more people this option," he added.

"By choosing this option they will avoid feeling sluggish.

"These are meals which can help them everyday but the plus side is that the food we produce is delicious.

"People have been approaching us and sending messages saying that these are the best salads they have ever had.

"Hopefully more people give it a try to see the benefits for themselves."

While ordering online customers get to choose a salad base, meat, veg and extras for meals, which comes to a total of around £6 to £7, although saver options are available.

Each dish can be tailored to suit gluten-free, dairy-free and wheat-free needs.
