A NEW private school for pooches will see four-legged friends listening to classical music and getting massages.

Wags Doggy Day Care opened on Monday in Risley, expanding from the existing branch in Worsley – which featured on the BBC and spawned its own brand of dog food.

The centre will employ 15 staff and can cater for 45 dogs a day.

Owner Colin Owen said: ““We call ourselves a school of excellence – we treat it like a private school for dogs, we have our own emblem and classrooms.

“It’s all confidence building, we call them our furry friends.

“We had Santa visit and it was on the BBC news.

“We have TV time in the morning and classical music in the afternoon and they have a nap, we have toy time, scent time, emotional time where they get a massage and we make sure they are clean before they go home.

“It started four years ago and we’ve now got 1000 customers and the reason we founded the company was we realised a lot of people were leaving dogs at home and we wanted to give them somewhere warm and somewhere to socialise.

“We perfected the first one and we chose Warrington because of its up-and-coming reputation.”
