WIRRAL women are being urged to help raise further funds for Cancer Research UK by taking part in a follow-up to the hugely popular Race For Life.

Pretty Muddy, a non-competitive 5k obstacle course with added mud, takes place at Tatton Park on Saturday, September 5, at 10am.

This summer, 14,000 women took part in Race for Life Pretty Muddy in Cheshire, Manchester and Preston and raised a fantastic £503,276.

Organisers need 2,000 women and girls to stride out next month and help raise £187,000 for vital research.

Rhian Coathup, Cancer Research UK's area event manager in the North West, said: "We're calling on the brave ladies of the Wirral to pull on their leggings and take on cancer at this year’s event.

"Race for Life is to celebrate those who are with us, and also remember those who are not.

"The atmosphere is electric, our participants are so inspiring and we’re calling on the women of the Wirral to help make 2015 our best year yet.

"After the success of Race for Life Pretty Muddy this summer we're calling on ladies from all across the region to sign up now.

"We've no doubt that they’ve got the fighting spirit to get down and dirty in the bid to beat cancer sooner.

"Pretty Muddy promises all the fun and camaraderie of our much loved 5k and 10k events – just with an extra serving of mud.

"Race for Life events are not competitive. They are not about being fit or fast. Women can complete the Pretty Muddy course at their own pace, climbing, jumping, walking and laughing their way around.

"It's about an army of women coming together in the fight against cancer."
