OPERATION Find Copper's Companion is under way after police found the adorable pet roaming the streets of Warrington last week.
Police have issued a plea for help, calling on members of the public to share the appeal with the hope of reuniting the dog with its rightful owners.
The mystery pet has been nicknamed Copper following a social media vote.
Copper, who is believed to be a Jack Russell, is currently being cared for by one of the force's special constables.
The dog's owners are believed to live in Orford.
Anyone with information is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 citing incident number 993 of July 29.
