THE results of the town's best-rated hotels may surprise a few people.
As Tripadvisor users have placed budget chains at the top of the pile rather than some of Warrington's more traditional hotels.
The top five in the town is made up of Premier Inns and a Travelodge with the Best Western Fir Grove Hotel, The Park Royal and the Pentahotel in Birchwood the only hotels to make it into the top 10 that are not classed as 'frill-free'.
The Gullivers Hotel is in 11th spot and the Village Urban Resort is 15th in the rankings out of 20.
And if you're looking for something to do once you have checked out of your hotel, the top-rated activity on the site is Walton Hall Gardens with more than 200 'excellent' reviews.
It adds to a number of free places to visit in the town in the top 20 including Lymm Dam, which took fourth spot, Warrington Museum and Art Gallery in fifth place, Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden at six and Warrington Town Hall placed at 18th.
