ANIMAL charity the RSPCA is appealing for information after a frightened American bulldog was found tied to a fence by a field in Winwick.

Two women called the RSPCA after they found the female dog at 9.15pm on Sunday on Delph Lane.

The dog has now been called Bramble by staff from the cause as she was found near a bramble bush.

Inspector Vicki Hancox, who attended the incident, said: “The two women were walking their dogs when they saw a male walking a dog in front of them and holding an iron metal bar.

"They said that he looked extremely annoyed.

"They watched this man walk through a cornfield.

“Later as they walked back, they heard barking, and it is then that they found the same dog they saw earlier tied up to a wooden fence.

"She was really frightened."

Bramble is now being cared for by RSPCA staff but anyone with information is urged to call 0300 123 8018.
