STOCKTON Heath Fire Station is throwing open its doors to the public on Saturday.

The free open day will take place from 11am until 3pm at the station on Ackers Road and will include chip pan demonstrations, a kitchen safety vehicle, modern and vintage appliances on display as well as some of specialist vehicles including the service's largest appliance - the hydraulic platform.

David Rutter, watch manager, said: "We would like as many people as possible to come along to the open day, have a great time and leave with some vital fire and road safety messages.”

There will also be refreshments on the day to buy and ice cream for a donation to the Firefighters Charity.
