A 22-YEAR-OLD man ignored a restraining order by visiting his parents' house and threatened to 'stab someone' so he would get sent to jail 'properly', a court heard.

Shehu Balogun, of no fixed abode, appeared at Halton Magistrates' Court on Friday and pleaded not guilty to harassment by breaching his restraining order.

The court heard how Balogun, who is in custody, entered his parents' house, on Gainsborough Road, on July 14, which he was prohibited from doing so following an order imposed four days earlier.

Prosecuting Alison Warburton said it was key for the magistrates to address 'concerns about stabbing' following the incident.

She added: "The victims are his mum and dad and the issue is with his restraining order.

"He was told not to contact them and not to enter Gainsborough Road but four days after he went there.

"He asked them where they want him to go and said 'why don't I just stab someone so I go to jail properly?'

"The defendant was arrested and said that he was just getting a duvet and went there to collect property.

"He has total disregard, it seems, for the restraining order and there is a risk of reoffending."

Balogun, who said he has been staying at YMCA Warrington, on Winmarleigh Street, denied making the threat to stab himself.

He added: "I said that I would stab myself, not someone else.

"I would rather get a job than commit offences."

He has been remanded in custody until August 21 when he will appear at Halton Magistrates' Court via video link for a trial.
