INVESTIGATIONS are ongoing after a woman was attacked and dragged to the ground while walking along Knutsford Road in Latchford.

Officers have published an e-fit of a man wanted in connection with the attempted sexual assault in the town.

The victim, aged 27, was near to the Barry Street junction on Sunday, June 28, at 4.45am when she was grabbed from behind by an unknown man.

He pulled her to the ground and attempted to take her into a secluded area. 

But he fled the scene after he was disturbed by a passerby.

The victim suffered cuts and grazes to her shoulder and ankle but she did not require hospital treatment. 

The offender is described as a white man, approximately 5ft 9inches and of medium build,

He is believed to be in his late twenties to early thirties, clean shaven with short black styled wavy gelled hair. 

At the time of the incident he was wearing blue jeans with a red tracksuit top with white stripes down arms and a white motif on his chest. 

DC Elaine Flynn from Warrington CID said: “We are currently following up a number of lines of enquiry and are keen to speak to anyone who is able to assist with our investigation. 

“I would also like to remind all local residents in the area to be vigilant and exercise caution and stay with friends when out at night.”
