RESIDENTS are being invited to join the council as it observes the one minute silence on Friday to remember the victims of the Tunisia beach attack.

The national minute silence takes place at 12pm and the Mayor of Warrington Cllr Geoff Settle will be at the town hall to observe the lowering of the Union flag to half-mast.

The flag will also fly at half-mast during the weekend.

In addition, Warrington will also be marking the minute’s silence at 10.30am before the start of Warrington Walking Day at the town hall and will be led by the Rector of Warrington Rev Paul Wilson.

The Mayor added: “Our thoughts and prayers are with all those families and friends both in the UK and abroad at this very sad and difficult time.”

A book of condolence for members of the public will be available to sign from 12pm on Friday at the town hall reception, Sankey Street until July 10.
