A CULCHETH farmer has painted the countryside pink to help fund research into finding a cure for breast cancer.

Dave Broster, of Diggle Green Farm, hopes the pink-packaged hay bales will inspire passing motorists and pedestrians to put their hands in their pockets in aid of a worthy cause.

The 39-year-old said:"Any little helps and I think this is a brilliant idea to remind people that more help is still needed to find a cure for breast cancer.”

Around 100 hay bales have been covered in the pink wrap, which are now proudly on display at the farm on Wilton Lane in full view from the East Lancs Road.

The idea was launched by company which produces the wrapping, Volac.

"It has cost a lot more to buy but we are happy to do it.

“We think this is a great way of reminding people.

"Cancer is a problem that needs solving and if everyone donated a £1 it would make a big difference," added that dad-of-two.

"I have not had anyone on my side of the family but my wife's family has been affected by this illness.

"We need to solve this problem and the only way that will happen is if people donate."
