YOUNGSTERS at St Andrew's Primary School received the royal seal of approval after writing to The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge following the birth of their first daughter, Princess Charlotte.
The year one pupils at the school on Mardale Avenue were delighted after a collection of letters arrived from Kensington Palace, thanking the youngsters for their messages.
Each pupil received a photograph of the happy family with a thank you note on the back which read:
"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were most touched that you took the trouble to write as you did on the birth of their daughter Princess Charlotte.
"Their Royal Highnesses are extremely grateful for the wonderful messages they have received and send you their warmest thanks and best wishes.”
Higher level teaching assistant Angie Marsh said: "Princess Charlotte was born around the same time that the pupils were learning about UK.
"This was a way of giving them something to aim for while practising their writing."
