WARRINGTON Schoolboys rugby league team went to Wembley to act as ballboys at the Challenge Cup Final between Leeds and St Helens 37 years ago.
Before they left they had their picture taken and it appeared on page one of the Warrington Guardian on Friday, May 12, back in the days when the Guardian was a broadsheet newspaper.
If anyone still has a copy of the photograph Gary Slater would like to hear from you on 07779 917806.
Gary is working with Mark Forster on his forthcoming autobiography and a 13-year-old 'Foz' is in the picture.
Also pictured are the late Walter Norris, who was the Warrington League secretary, and Keith Jones, who was the Warrington under 13s coach.
The 10 schoolboys who were ballboys for a day were Chris Hough (Beamont), David Hill (English Martyrs), Brian Paget (Beamont), Ian Charnock and Mark Forster (both Richard Fairclough), John Gordon (Beamont), David Johnson (English Martyrs), Paul Barket (Beamont), Bill Withington (Bewsey) and Colin Kelly (Beamont).
