ATER gaining overnight fame following a stint on reality TV series Big Brother, Lisa Appleton's life was packed with £25,000 magazine deals, yacht holidays in Sardinia and a mansion home where she housed her luxury possessions.

But almost 10 years after the ex-Big Brother contestant from Latchford was thrown into the celebrity spotlight, her life will once again be subject to scrutiny when she features on a new Channel 5 documentary.

Celebs on Benefits: Claim to Fame follows the lives of famous faces that now live on state benefits.

The 47-year-old, who appeared in the 9th series of the reality show in 2008, will appear in the one-off programme alongside Bruce Jones, who is most famous for playing Les Battersby in soap favourite Coronation Street.

Speaking to Phillip Schofield and Amanda Holden on ITV1 show This Morning, Lisa said: "I live in the past all the time saying ‘I’d wished I’d done this, I wished I’d done that’, but it’s not helping me move forward.

"I think I put my trust in the wrong people.

"I was conned and scammed and was left all of a sudden overnight penniless and homeless."

Celebs on Benefits: Claim to Fame will be shown on Channel 5 on June 25 at 8pm.
