Greenalls housing plan was dramatically turned down by the planning committee this evening, Wednesday.

Councillors voted against the officer's recommendation to approve the 250-280 home plan, which is supposed to help the distiller fund a move to Risley.

They beleived the package of benefits that Greenalls agreed to provide was not enough to justify building the homes, given Warrington is already 14 years ahead of house building targets.

Greenalls manager declined to comment after the meeting.
