SPORTS students at Warrington Collegiate have been doing their bit to spread health and fitness messages.

Students studying Higher National Diplomas in sports and exercise science have put their studies into action providing health checks for staff and students on health and wellbeing day at Warrington Collegiate.

Student Ben Mercer, aged 20, said: “Staff and students have been keen to find out just how fit they really are.

"There were tests which can evaluate performance and provide feedback to maintain or improve current exercise habits.

"We also ran a competition for the most sit ups or press ups in one minute which got quite competitive.”

This annual event is always popular at college with staff and students wanting to shape up for summer.

Elise Lee, Collegiate welfare adviser who set up the event, said: "We have had a fantastic response with more than 20 organisations exhibiting on the day.

"It is a really good opportunity to promote health and wellbeing to young people and educate them at the same time.

"Young people today face a lot of challenges and often do not realise there are organisations out there to support them.”
