LIVEWIRE has won a national award for its innovative PE programme.

The Warrington leisure provider was named Partner of the Year at the Create Development National Awards at a ceremony in Coventry.

Following curriculum changes relating to the delivery of PE in schools, LiveWire introduced the real PE programme working with primary schools across the North West to deliver high quality training to support teachers to deliver PE in their own schools.

LiveWire worked with Create Development to provide the service and to date 45 primary schools in Warrington have been trained in real PE by the team.

Jan Parker, PE and school sport manager at LiveWire, said: “I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of the team here at LiveWire and proud to partner with Create Development.

“My desire would be that the young people of Warrington enjoy healthy, active and happy lives and I firmly believe that good teaching and learning in PE lessons forms the basis of this.”

Stockton Heath Primary and Bradshaw Community were also up for awards at the ceremony after being singled out from over 3,000 schools enrolled in the programmed across the UK.

Head teacher of Stockton Heath Primary School, which was nominated for School of the Year, Dan Harding said: “My staff and children look forward to Real PE based lessons with great anticipation and talk very passionately about the huge positive impact real PE has had on behaviour, attitudes to learning and respect for self and others.

“Everyone’s perception of what physical education actually means and its benefits have changed thanks to LiveWire’s real PE training programme.”
