MIDWIVES at Warrington Hospital ave been overwhelmed with donations after appealing to the public to help them collect blankets and clothes to help victims of the Nepal earthquake.
Staff on the maternity ward were hoping to help some of the 14,000 women about to give birth in the area which was devastated by the earthquake on April 25.
But the department has received so many donations they are struggling to find ways of getting the donations into the country and have had to set a cut off point of Friday for donations.
Head of midwifery, Mel Hudson, said: "As a trust, we want to do something for the terrible crisis facing women and their babies and families in Nepal.
"There are approximately 14,000 women about to give birth with little or no facilities and we would like to collect items that would be of value for example baby clothes, blankets, baby toiletries and disposable nappies."
If you would like to get involved, drop a donation off at Antenatal Clinic in Croft Wing and ask for Debbie Dennett, Mel's secretary. Anyone who can help transport the donations to Nepal is also asked to get in touch.
