CHAPELFORD residents have been venting their frustrations after being hit with further delays and 'broken promises' from David Wilson Homes (DWH).

Homeowners say they are sick of excuses over landscaping work not being completed in the area and are calling for answers.

They claim work on land known as 'Area 10' off Washington Drive is 11 years over due, Missouri Drive landscaping will be one year late in June and they were assured during a council planning meeting landscaping around Blue Lake Gardens would be completed within 90 days of the first house completion but this has not been the case.

Chairman of the Chapelford Residents Association David Weaver said: "Landscaping just doesn't get done so then we have been asking for it to be made a condition but that gets ignored and there's no pressure put on them.

"People moving on to Blue Lake Gardens were told the landscaping would be done within six months but now nearly all the properties have been sold and there's still no play area.

"They sell the house and then there's no responsibility."

A DWH spokesman said they were working with the council to ensure areas of public open space are completed and 'significant areas' had been opened including Dakota Park.

He added Area 10 had been held in abeyance while alternative community uses were discussed and late last year a landscaping scheme was agreed.

The spokesman added: "The implementation of the scheme is awaiting the land drying out to a sufficient degree to enable heavy machinery to access it.

"It is envisaged that work will recommence in June."

An opening date for the Missouri Drive area will 'hopefully' also take place next month but the spokesman said there was 'no set timescale' for Blue Lake Gardens.

He added: "The open space at Blue Lake Gardens will be provided once the homes that front onto it have been constructed to ensure safe use of the facilities."
