JOHN Lennon's iconic round glasses are to go under the hammer at a Great Sankey auction house this week and are set to fetch up to £10,000.

The Beatles star loaned these spectacles to his housekeeper Dot Jarlett in 1965 to lend to her brother when he needed a pair to complete his schoolboy fancy dress outfit.

The glasses come with a signed letter of authenticity and signed legal affidavit from Dot Jarlett's son.

This piece of musical history are being sold in an auction on Tuesday and Wednesday by Omega Auctions on Warrington Road alongside other items including a draft of statement prior to the divorce of Cynthia and John Lennon and unseen black and white photos of the Beatles.

Other items include negatives of Cilla Black and Brian Epstein and a Stone Roses demo cassette.
