A GREAT Sankey salon owner said she was very privileged to be asked to judge at top hairdresser Andrew Collinge's inter-salon competition.

Joeann Bostock, who runs Fuss on Park Road, had previously trained all Andrew Collinge staff six years ago following the intake of Tigi as a brand.

She was invited back by the hair stylist to help judge more than 400 competitors in Liverpool from salons across the north west.

She added: "It was really tough to judge as there were lots of aspects to be taken into consideration but the whole experience was amazing.

"I felt very privileged to be asked to do such an important job and Andrew and his team were very hospitable throughout the day.

"He took us all for dinner after the awards with his family and I look forward to working with him again.

"For us at Fuss salon, I feel our team will benefit greatly from the day especially when they enter competitions themselves."

Gym fun

A TOTAL of 350 gymnasts bounced and sprung their way through a competition held at Great Sankey Leisure Centre.

The annual LiveWire tournament, organised by Danielle Upton, gives young gymnasts who do between one and two hours per week, the opportunity to have the experience of entering a competition.

All of the young gymnasts receive a commemorative medal for their performance with the best being awarded a gold, silver or bronze.

The deputy mayor Cllr Geoff Settle, whose daughter Katie was one of the judges on the day, said: “I was very impressed by the standard and the skills displayed by all gymnasts.

"They were a tribute to their coaches and enthusiastic parents and they all had a fantastic time.

"I remember the dad’s and ,um’s taxi runs the deputy mayoress and I used to make when our daughter was their age.”
