A CANNABIS factory worth £750, 000 has been discovered on the outskirts of Warrington.

The drugs haul has now been seized following the raid at an annexe building at Daresbury Hall on Monday.

Police have confirmed that investigations are still ongoing and no arrests have been made.

Chief Inspector Paul Beauchamp said: "This was a significant find and fortunately, we have been able to put a stop to it.

"In total 600 cannabis plants were recovered from inside the premises, which have an estimated street value of approximately £750,000.

"This is a great result as we believe that these drugs could well have been destined for the streets of Cheshire or further afield."

Chief Inspector Beauchamp added: "We know what negative impact illegal drug use and supply can have on the community and it is an issue we take extremely seriously.

"Members of the public can rest assured that our efforts in this area will continue.

"Information from members of the public is vital in the fight against drug related crime.

"Drug use and supply is an issue of concern for the local community and we continue to do all we can to put a stop to this sort of activity.

"Drug related activity is not acceptable and local officers will continue to react swiftly and positively to any information in relation to drug related crime in the area."

Built in 1759, it is a former country mansion which has fallen into disrepair.

The hall has been used as a centre for Scope in the 1950s and latterly has been used to host 'zombie' experiences in the grounds and some of the outbuildings.

It features an abandoned swimming pool, conservatory and old cars.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 542 of April 28.
