PLANS to open a sandwich shop and offices on the site of the former Touchline building on Knutsford Road are due to be discussed on Wednesday.
The land, opposite the Mersey and bordering Carol Street, in Latchford, has been vacant since a fire ripped through the premises in 2009 and the offices were subsequently demolished.
A planning application by Urban Developments suggests building food shops, probably a sandwich shop, and offices for local businesses on the land. There would also be space for 18 cars to park.
The application is due to be discussed at Wednesday's a council planning meeting at 6.30pm in the Town Hall
AThe report sent to planners said: "The market demand for the proposal is intended to serve both the local population within walking distance and some passing trade.
"The site will continue the existing parade of shops and services on Knutsford Road and will not impact on the vitality and viability of Latchford as a neighbourhood centre due to the envisaged local nature of the catchment area."
One objection has been raised about access to the nearby church at the back of the site and general car parking.
