HAVE you ever thought about becoming a police community support officer with Cheshire Constabulary?

Recruitment lines will open on May 1 to find wiling PCSOs who will work in the heart of the community.

A seminar to find out more about the role will be held on Tuesday at 6pm to 7pm at Cheshire Police HQ in Winsford.

The session will provide information on the recruitment process, how to complete the application form or the training required.

Assistant chief constable Mark Roberts said: “The constabulary has a need to recruit PCSOs to fill a number of vacancies that we have across the whole of the force area.

“The role of PCSO is vital to the success of our approach to neighbourhood policing and offers an interesting and rewarding career to those who are successful through the recruitment process.”

Prospective applicants are encouraged to view a video on the Cheshire Police website which highlights the work they will carry out if they are successful.

PCSOs undertake a comprehensive training program and then receive tutoring in the workplace.

Skills such as tolerance and empathy, the ability to remain calm under pressure, assertiveness, good powers of observation and the desire to want to make a difference are among the skills needed to be a PCSO.

The recruitment drive will close on May 17.
